Natacha Finette-Constantin

Soprano

A French soprano born in Mauritius, Natacha Constantin is a graduate of the Conservatoire National de Region de Toulouse and the Centre d’Etudes Supérieures de Musique et de Danse de Toulouse. She has won several prizes in international competitions. From September 2003 to July 2005 she was a member of the Atelier Lyrique of the National Opera of Paris.

In 2001 she interpreted the title role in Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans at the Opéra Comique in Montpellier. In 2003 she played Ines in Il Trovatore in a production at the Avignon Opera and later at the Opera de Massy. In 2004 and 2005 she was the understudy to Mireille Delunsch, Melisande in Debussy’s Pelleas et Melisande directed by Bob Wilson, and Dona Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni conducted by Sylvain Cambreling and directed by Mickael Haneke at the National Opera in Paris. She has also sung numerous roles at the Opera Bastille, including, among others, that of Ines in Il Trovatore, Nicolette in L’Amour des Trois Oranges by Prokofief, Countess Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Camille in Charpentier’s Louise and Chocholka in La Petite Renarde Rusee by Janacek.

Since 1998 Natacha Constantin has taken part in various concerts in France, Switzerland and Mauritius. Among other works, she interpreted Les Nuits d’Ete by Berlioz in Toulouse with the Orchestre Symphonique du Conservatoire National de Region of that town. She also sang the solo part in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonelle at the Esplanade of St Etienne. In May 2008 she was Fulvie in the first international production of Debussy’s cantata Le Gladiateur in the Auditorium of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France Francois Mitterand.

Before coming to Mauritius to play Frasquita in the Opera Mauritius 2010 production of Carmen, Natacha Constantin will once again be performing the role of Chocholka at the Opera Bastille in June.
